On October 21, the choir will sing Refugee, an anthem by contemporary choral composer Moira Smiley. According to the composer, "we are all much closer to being refugees than we want to imagine. Realizing this may remind us of our humanity..."

August begins with the annual gospel service on August 5. Marie Flowers is the director for the gospel choir again this year, and will be joined by

UCBR's own Marie Flowers will again direct the annual gospel choir. The choir will begin rehearsals on Wednesday, July 11 at 6:30 pm, so plan ahead if you'd like to participate in this fun summer music-making experience. The gospel services will be August 5

June begins with the New Orleans Gay Men's Concert on June 2, 7:30pm. The theme this summer is Big Apple/Big Easy. For tickets or more information, visit nogmc.com.

In May, the choir will join us on May 6 with an anthem by choral composer Andrea Ramsey based on Psalm 23.

On May 13, the children's choir will have a special performance, and the adult choir will sing The Ground, a favorite of the choir.

April begins with Easter services on April 1. We'll be joined by a string trio, and the choir will sing Vamuvamba, an Easter anthem by Kenyan composer Boniface Mganga, accompanied by Julius Kyakuwa.

On March 11, the choir will present the anthem purchased at the annual auction last year. Our generous donor chose the uplifting song You Will Be Found, from the contemporary Broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen.

The adult choir will return on February 4 with an anthem by W.A. Mozart, from his mass known as the Sparrow Mass. The annual blues service will be on February 25, with a blues band made up of church members and friends.

The choir will return on January 14 to participate in the annual Martin Luther King Jr. services, and on January 21 to sing some gospel-inspired music.
