On April 1, we will recognize the 2nd and 3rd graders who have successfully navigated the Roots and Wings program. The choir will sing an anthem “Roots and Wings” as a response to the children’s presentation.

On March 4, the women’s ensemble of the choir will sing music for the services.   The Introit is a Spiritual Quodlibet arranged by Isaya Barnwell and the anthem text by Rabindranath Tagore has been set to music by Elizabeth Alexander.

Mark Your Calendars:  Friday Evening, February 10, 7:30, Fellowship Hall.   Singer/Songwriter/Comedian/ Satirist Roy Zimmerman returns for his third concert at our church.   This year we are changing the venue slightly to make it possible to have coffee/tea and munchies to enjoy

Holiday festivities for our church begin on December 4 with a Baroque Ensemble: two Recorders, Viola da Gamba and Harpsichord.    In the afternoon, the tree decorating party will include some singing around and under the piano.

On November 6 at 6:00 PM, our choir along with instrumentalists and soloists will present Requiem, a work by UU composer Clif Hardin. The themes of this work are anticipation and acceptance that death comes to all, and that love is more powerful than death.

The sentiments expressed in the attached brief story bear remembering as the choir tackles another formidable piece, Requiem,  a work by UU composer Clif Hardin, in preparation for a concert on November 6. We performed Quem Vidistis Pastores, the subject of the attached story, last season, 2011.
