This class uses stories, games, and art to explore the many ways that children and animals fulfill these universal needs.

Big Sundays of Surprises (Grade 1-6)

Moral Tales: Welcome One and All

This lesson is about the idea that justice and goodness require an attitude of radical hospitality, regardless of race, class, or creed. The children hear a Middle Eastern folk tale about Mullah Nasruddin, and consider its implications.

Dr. Seuss: Yertle the Turtle

In this lesson, the children learn that everyone is important, and we all should have a say in the things that are important to us.

Blazes (Grades 2-3) & Mysteries (Grades 4-5)

Spirit of Adventure: Food – Fannie Farmer, Unitarian “Domestic Scientist”

This week, the children will make their own snack while learning about Fannie Farmer, a Unitarian who introduced the concept of standardized measurements for cooking.

Questioners Middle Youth (Grades 6-8)

The Gospel of the Simpsons: When Flanders Failed

The class will discuss suffering, and how we respond to our own and others’ bad days.

Seekers Senior Youth (Grades 9-12)

The Gospel of the Simpsons: Like Father Like Clown

The class will discuss family traditions, being true to yourself, and reconciling differences between parents and children.
