July 2019 Outreach by Becky Cureau

Blog category:

Our church was represented by another team of RE children and their parents who prepared "Bags of Hope" in the St. Vincent de Paul dining room on Saturday, June 8. The Team reported that they enjoyed working with other community volunteers as they prepared this take-home evening meal given to homeless and others who eat the daily lunch in the St. Vincent de Paul dining room. Our volunteers included Leslie and Ethan Grover; Kris, Eliza, and Matilda Mecholsky, and  friend Rome Gautreau;  and Haiyu and Valhalla Zheng. Many thanks, volunteers for "showing up" on behalf of our church. The smiling Team is pictured below.

Save the date:  On Saturday, August 31 we will return for our third and last service of the summer to prepare "Bags of Hope" from 8:30 - 10:30am in the St. Vincent de Paul dining room. This will be an "all church" volunteer opportunity for members, including children with a parent/parents or a designated adult. Sign-up will begin on Sunday, August 4. Look for more information in weekly announcements later in July.

Our donations of staple food items assist the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank in its goal of providing food to those who depend on this source to supplement their families' food needs. Foods for healthy snacks - like peanut butter, cheese and peanut butter crackers, granola bars, pudding and fruit cups - are especially welcome during the summer months when food-dependent children are out of school. Thanks as always for your donations, which can be placed in the Food Bank cartons located near the bulletin boards in the Coffee Room.
