Meetings of the Board are on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 and all are welcome.  Agenda is posted on the bulletin board and on the church’s web site a few days before.  At the last meeting, we discussed possible new Board policies involving informal resolution methods to be used when communicating church concerns and grievance and appeal procedures.  This discussion exemplifies the “governing by policy” under the new policy governance model of the church.  The Board also welcomed the following individuals as new members of this church: Eric Davies, Steven Dorsher, Ginna Paredes, Emmy Taylor, Dave Bickmeire, and Therese Addington.  Welcome all!

 

We’re pleased to report that the Board-appointed “3 M” task force (exploring the “Meaning and Method of Membership) is up and running!  The task force members are: Bliss Higgins, Bryan Costello, Clyde Johnson, Janet Sullivan, Karen Girardot, and Melanie Mayeux.  They have begun meeting and gathering information and will likely be asking for your input.  Feel free to speak to them if you have any questions.

 

 The next “Town Hall” meeting is scheduled for October 12.  Like before, the meeting will take place after church and will include “break out” sessions that will provide an opportunity for us to hear each other on important issues.  More details to come but we ask that you save the date and plan to come.  Lunch and child care will be available. 

 The Board heartily thanks the nearly 100 people who attended the recent Congregational Meeting.  After full discussion, the majority of the Congregation voted to: 1) move ahead with the conceptual master plan and authorize contracting for construction plans, with payment of up to $75,000 from the Great Expectations Capital/Growth Fund, construction plans; 2) move ahead with plans for future staffing (Executive Director in 2015; Electronic Media Coordinator in 2016); and 3) approve the preliminary 2015 operating budget.  Of course, more decisions are to be made regarding all of these items and opportunities for your input will be available.  One such way is the “Talk to Me” table that the Board intends to implement in the coming weeks.  This table will be located in the Fellowship Hall after church services and that’s where you’ll find members of the Board, the Great Expectations Steering Committee and/or the Governance Task Force who will be available to receive your questions and input.  Please come talk to us!
