This church needs to be the Nick Saban of Baton Rouge. When I said that in worship the day after LSU beat Alabama, I almost got booed out of the sanctuary. (Non-football fans, please stick with me. This isn’t really about football).

I do not like school buses. That is to say, I don’t have any particular affinity for them. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate them. I just don’t feel any way about them.

Joel has asked that the new newsletter deadline (which will be the 20th of each month beginning in November) is the actual newsletter deadline. The train leaves the station at 3 p.m. on the deadline day. That’s why this column is so short!

Some of you have been asking, so I will officially confirm it here: Lauren and I are expecting another child this November. We are very excited. This congregation has been very respectful throughout the pregnancy, and I am quite grateful for that.

An ode to Sadie Roberts-Joseph: Sadie Roberts-Joseph spent years curating a museum underneath the interstate - you know the interstate our government put right through the middle of a historically black neighborhood (and by that I mean a neighborhood that has been black since emancipation).
